Toolmaker

Mould-maker for complicated injection moulds and equipment, who is also capable of programming and operating CNC-controlled milling and eroding machines.

The apprenticeship begins in the month of September. The apprenticeship lasts for 3.5 years.

Intensive training sessions are held in the Berufsschulzentrum für Technik III / Vocational Training Centre for Technology III in Chemnitz. These take the form of two-week courses, attended 6-7 times throughout the year, with the remainder of the time dedicated to practical training within the company.

Special training content, relating, for example, to the welding of metals and to pneumatics and electro-pneumatics, or additional qualifications are taught outside the company within the Vocational Training Network (Ausbildungsverbund).



 
 
 
 

Training content:

1st year of training (basic professional training year)
  • Acquisition of comprehensive knowledge of metal processing
  • Turning, milling, grinding, engraving, separating, reforming, joining

2nd year of training
  • Moving between all departments within the company
  • Training courses on electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Heat treatment of tool elements
  • Occupational safety, quality control and environmental protection in accordance with the certified operational management system
  • Testing of Part I, theory and practical (= 40% of the final examination)

3rd year of training
  • Manufacture of injection mould assemblies, taking into account the combination of various machine-based manufacturing procedures
  • Assembly and dismantling of the moulds
  • Manufacture of assembly, gluing and thread-cutting equipment
  • Enhancement of acquired skills in the repair of moulds and tools
  • Theoretical and practical final examination at the end of the apprenticeship

The practical examination includes the manufacture of parts of an injection mould, including the preparatory machine and tuning work.
